Span International was founded in Toronto, Canada in 1981. Today, Span is a leading provider of value added logistics and manufacturing services to the electronics industry worldwide. With a network of 10 facilities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the company supports the needs of a diversified OEM and CM customer base in the industrial, communications, and automotive electronics. Span offers a comprehensive range of services designed to facilitate the implementation of lean strategies at it's customer base. Supply chain management services include, 3rd party warehousing, kitting, JIT, Kan Ban, pre-delivery inspection, sorting, and product design, procurement, prototyping, assembly, interconnect, test, final system build, comprehensive web-based supply chain management, packaging, global distribution and more. Currently, Span has 10 operational sites in three countries, with over 800 employees. Importantly, all aspects of Span's operations are developed, owned and operated by Span. This not only ensures standardization of systems and business practices, but is also a measure of our commitment to our business partners. In 1990/91, Span launched facilities in USA, Mexico and Spain. In subsequent years the processes were further refined to enable the reduction of inventory throughout the pipeline. In step with process refinement, Span was pro-active in incorporating quality disciplines and was one of the first organizations to use quality tools such QOS and 8D problem solving. In 1992 Span was awarded the esteemed Q1 award for excellence for warehousing and distribution, and in subsequent years several of Span facilities obtained ISO9002 certification. |
